Road Closure Notices

Road Closures affecting the National Centre

Visitors to the National Centre should be aware of road closures that may affect their route planning and journey time, particularly those travelling from the west.

Several road closures are in effect in Melton Mowbray due to the North and East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road (NEMMDR) project. The A606 Nottingham Road and B676 Saxby Road are currently closed. Additionally, there are closures on St Bartholomew’s Way and Lag Lane. These closures are part of the final phase of the bypass construction, aiming to reduce congestion in the town centre.

Specific Closures:

  • A606 Nottingham Road: Closed from July 7, 2025, to August 31, 2025.
  • B676 Saxby Road: Closed from June 24, 2025, to September 28, 2025.
  • St Bartholomew’s Way: Closed from June 16 to September 28.
  • Lag Lane: Closed.

Diversions:

  • The diversion route for the B676 Saxby Road closure is via the A607 to the A1 and vice versa.
  • Diversions are in place for other closures and will be clearly signed.

General Information:

  • The NEMMDR project is a major highway undertaking, and the current closures are intended to facilitate the construction of roundabouts and road resurfacing.
  • The closures are timed to coincide with the school summer holidays when traffic is typically lower.
  • Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for journeys.
  • More details about the closures, including diversion routes, are available on the Leicestershire County Council website.
